DESCRIPTION:We are lucky enough to have been chosen as one of the charities to benefit from Terry Ramplin’s wonderful Christmas lights display on Long Lane this year. \nThis is the 20th year that Terry has decorated his house for the enjoyment of the public\, and is a favourite stop on the Southern Vectis Christmas Lights Tour. Terry has raised over £30\,000 for charity over the last 19 festive seasons. \n“This year’s switch on will have the Vectis Corps of Drums Marching Band playing\, and we’ll be offering mulled wine\, hot chocolate\, minced pies and sausage rolls for those who come along.” said Terry \n  \nThe big switch on will take place on Saturday 30th November at 6pm.  \nThis is free to attend\, with donations appreciated for The Wight Brainy Bunch and John’s Club.

DESCRIPTION:On the 12th September\, teams from the three Emergency Services will ‘escape’ the Isle of Wight and go ‘on the run’ for a 50 hour period with zero planning\, as they compete in charity event ‘Blue Light Breakout’\, where they will endeavour to get as far away from the Island as possible\, raising money in aid of Island charity ‘The Wight Brainy Bunch’. \nThe teams will consist of two off duty personnel from the IOW Fire and Rescue Service\, IOW Ambulance and Hampshire Constabulary who have given their time freely to take part in the challenge to support IOW Firefighter Mark Grimes who founded the charity following his diagnosis of a brain tumour in 2015. \nThe event is generously supported by several Island businesses including Novum Law and Maher Ross\, who have kindly sponsored the event to ensure the teams can be repatriated to the Island following their two-day challenge. \nTeams will be tracked throughout the event and the supporters will be able to support and encourage their chosen team by TEXT DONATE. \nTO DONATE UP TO £20\, TEXT YOUR TEAM CODE PLUS DONATION AMOUNT TO 70085  (eg: FIREIOW 20)  \nFIREIOW     \nPOLICEIOW  \nAMBIOW

DESCRIPTION:Family fun evening in aid of Island Charities! \nOn Friday 6th September\, ‘Charities Together’ are hosting ‘Party in the Carpark’\, a family fun evening at Ryde Tesco\, in aid of 9 small Island Charities. \nThe event will take place in the rear car park from 4-8pm\, and will host a variety of fun activities\, including military assault course\, Magic with David Randini\, Characters from Enchanted Isle\, swing boat rides\, games\, football cage\, toy tombola\, slime\, glitter art\, BBQ\, cakes\, refreshments and a milkshake bar! \nThis promises to be a great evening of fun for all the family\, as the little ones return to school. \nCharities Together is a group of local small charities working together to raise money for the local community\, and is made up of: The Wight Brainy Bunch\, Cats Protection\, MPCT\,  Women’s Institute\, Isle Access\, Aspire\, Ryde Rotary\, IW Search & Rescue and Vectis Radio. \nThe event is kindly supported by Tesco Extra Ryde. \nFree event\, although donations are welcomed \n

DESCRIPTION:On the 1st September Lilly (7yrs) and Georgia (9yrs) will be having their gorgeous locks chopped off to raise awareness of brain tumours\, and money for The Wight Brainy Bunch following the devastating news that 14 yr old Kayden (Lillys brother\, Georgia’s cousin)\, was diagnosed with a brain tumour earlier this month. \nThe girls will have this done at Teaze Hair Studio in Carisbrooke\, by Lilly’s Aunty\, and will donate the hair to the Little Princess Trust (www.littleprincesses.org.uk/donate-hair/ ) \n\nKayden went to the Opticians earlier this month\, as he was suffering with headaches. Within 24hrs of his appointment he had been urgently referred to St. Mary’s Hospital\, Isle of Wight\, had an MRI scan\, was diagnosed with a brain tumour\, and was air lifted to Southampton General for an urgent biopsy to determine what kind of brain tumour they are dealing with. The biopsy has been sent to Great Ormond Street Hospital for extensive testing\, and they are still awaiting for the results. \nKayden is likely to require Proton Beam Treatment in America\, and whilst the treatment will be funded on the NHS\, the family will of course require further support\, which the charity will continue to give. \nTo support Lilly and Georgia and of course Kayden\, please visit their fundraising page: \nwww.gofundme.com/f/ec4mn-chop-chop

SUMMARY:Jason's Celtic Cycling Adventure!
DESCRIPTION:On the 7th July\, 23 year old Jason Hayles will commence his mammoth cycling challenge from Inverness\, The Pan Celtic Race 2019. \nThe Pan Celtic Race is a 1480 mile\, 89\,143 ft climb\, self-supported cycling adventure\, journeying through the Celtic Nations of Scotland\, Ireland and Wales. \nIn November last year\, Jason’s girlfriend Alayna passed away from a brain tumour \, just 8 months following her diagnosis. \nBecause of her I’ve learnt that if there’s something you want to do in this life\, you can’t put it off for the future! We had planned to go to Scotland\, bikepacking and travel the world together! But unfortunately that is no longer possible. \n  \nWhen she passed away\, I completely lost interest in life\, let that be cycling\, socializing or everything else for that matter. This was the first time in my life I didn’t know what to do!  \n  \nSo to me the pan celtic isn’t just a 1440mile ride across Scotland\, Ireland and Wales.. to me it’s more about reconnecting with Alayna and continuing to live our dreams! Even if it isn’t as we planned it. \n  \nThe route starts in the Highlands of Scotland and takes the riders on an epic adventure along coastal roads and awe-inspiring mountain views. The riders then head to Belfast to discover Ireland’s East Coast and ancient landmarks. Finally the riders journey over to Fishguard\, Wales\, through wild Celtic countryside to finish in the Seaside town of Llandudno. \nWe are totally blown away that Jason has chosen to do this in aid of The Wight Brainy Bunch.
